Learn the basics of working with alcohol inks with Nina Yocom.

Have you been curious about alcohol inks? This Introduction to Alcohol Inks Workshop is perfect for someone who has no experience to someone who wants more experience using a variety of different surfaces and tools.

In this class you will:

• Begin by working on a blank 6” x 6” white ceramic tile focusing on the intuitive nature of inks and the fine balance between controlling the inks using a variety of tools and allowing the painting to process.

• Apply inks to a number of different surfaces including a variety of synthetic papers and canvas.

• Learn to use tools such as paintbrushes, foam brushes, cool air flow to move and control the inks.

• Conclude with a thorough review of how to finish your work with a focus on colorfastness and longevity.

• Go home with several frame-worthy pieces of your own work.

What to bring: A willingness to let go and appreciate the intuitive nature of working with alcohol inks in a low-pressure, fun environment. You will find that working with inks is very meditative, relaxing and exciting. I'm really looking forward to sharing this experience with you!

Ample free parking on site; handicap accessible parking and ramp up to first floor. Lift to assist for access to third floor.

    • Alcohol Inks
    • Variety of synthetic papers (6 different types)
    • 4x4 ceramic tiles to take home
    • Raw canvas
    • Watercolor canvas
    • Paintbrushes
    • Foam Brushes
    • Low flow hair dryers
    • Alcohol Ink Blowers
    • Craft Gun 

STUDIO NOTES:

  • You’re welcome to bring snacks or drinks (fridge available)
  • 3rd-floor walk-up with elevator access
  • The front door is locked; studio access information will be sent upon registration

STUDENTS NOTE:

  • Wear clothing you will be okay being stained by ink as it's a possibility even with the provided apron; no loose sleeves.

NINA YOCOM:

Artist and instructor Nina Yocom creates luminous alcohol ink and mixed-media artwork inspired by nature's colors, textures, and movement. Her work is characterized by vibrant layers, organic forms, and a balance between allowing materials to flow freely and thoughtfully guiding their final composition. Nina's own creative journey has reinforced her belief that art is a powerful pathway to connection, discovery, and growth. She brings that same philosophy to her workshops, encouraging students of all experience levels to explore, experiment, and leave with both new skills and creative confidence.
